Paintings

My paintings investigate the frontiers of imagination though the use of the language of myths and symbols. The style blends together elements of pulp illustration, portraiture, graffiti, tattoo art and comics. I use a series of cinematographic images and character portraits as hints of a secret story. I want the viewer to construct the narrative setting and to try to decipher the riddle. I often start the painting with gesso white ground to smooth the surface or add texture and mix in the painting emblems and tags with acrylic markers, conveying a loose contemporary style that dance with graffiti and sticker art.
